Planning a kids’ party sounds simple until it actually starts.
You have the food, the decorations, and everyone arrives excited. Then about 45 minutes later, you start hearing, “What are we doing next?”
We’ve experienced this ourselves. Before Pier Party of 5, our family did many of the things most families do: pizza, bowling, arcades, and backyard inflatables. There is nothing wrong with those activities, but we learned that kids really enjoy having something to look forward to, participate in, and remember. As parents, we are looking for those memories too.
That’s a big part of why we started Pier Party of 5.
Here are seven unique party ideas that can help make your next family event in DFW more memorable.

1. Have a Foam Party
Pier Party of 5 began after our kids attended a foam party.
We saw how much fun they were having and thought, “We could do this.”
What surprised us most was how quickly kids become involved. Some children stand back at first because foam is something different. Give them a few minutes, though, and they usually jump in!
Foam gets kids moving, laughing, and interacting instead of sitting and watching.
It also works for different ages. Younger kids can enjoy playing in the foam while older kids turn it into a competition or simply enjoy being silly with their friends.
2. Add Carnival Games
Some kids love foam. Others want to compete.
Carnival games give kids something interactive to do while giving them a chance to challenge their friends and win prizes.
We added carnival games to Pier Party of 5 because we wanted to create a smaller, more accessible carnival experience that could come directly to a birthday party, school event, community event, or family gathering. The best part? Prizes are included!
Games like ring toss, Can Smash, and our Nerf shooting gallery give kids different ways to participate.
And don’t be surprised if the parents get involved.
We’ve learned that parents are really just big kids. They may come to watch their children play and end up competing right alongside them.

3. Don’t Forget the Little Kids — Bubbles Are a Big Deal
Sometimes the simplest activity creates the biggest smile.
We added bubbles because our own kids love bubbles and interactive toys. Younger children can have just as much fun chasing bubbles, trying to catch them, and watching huge bubbles float around them.
Bubbles are also helpful when your event has several age groups.
Older kids can be playing games while younger children have something designed specifically for them.
You don’t always need a complicated activity. Sometimes seeing a little one’s face light up when a giant bubble floats over their head is all it takes.
4. Bring Snow to Texas

Texas isn’t exactly known for dependable snow.
That’s one reason artificial snow can be such a fun surprise.
Our snow events create something families don’t get to experience very often. It can be a fun addition to Christmas parties, school events, daycares, churches, community events, and winter-themed celebrations.
The artificial snow is soap-based and designed to create the look and feel of snow without leaving a huge mess behind.
And the best part?
You get to see that moment when kids realize they are actually playing in “snow” in Texas.
5. Give Everyone a Chance to Be Part of the Picture
Parents want their kids to have fun, but they also want to capture the moment.
That’s one reason we added our overhead Sky View 360 video experience.
Traditional 360 booths can require people to stand on a small platform. Our overhead setup creates more room for groups and makes it easier for more people to participate.
This was important to us personally.
Before Pier Party of 5, I worked in special education. I saw students miss out on activities because the activity wasn’t designed with them in mind.
We wanted our 360 experience to be something more people could participate in and not something where some people had to stand on the sidelines.
It can be a fun addition to proms, weddings, corporate events, school events, birthdays, and family celebrations.

6. Don’t Run Everything at Once
One of the biggest things we’ve learned from actually running events is that more activities don’t necessarily make a better event.
Sometimes the best events are organized so activities happen one after another. It keeps the party flowing.
For example, you might start with carnival games, move into a foam party, take a break for food and cake, and then finish with bubbles or a 360 video experience.
That gives kids something new to look forward to throughout the event.
It also helps prevent long lines, confusion, and activities competing with each other.
Think about the flow of the event, not just the individual activities.
7. Give Kids Something They Don’t Get Every Weekend
This is really what Pier Party of 5 is all about.
Kids have plenty of opportunities to play video games, watch movies, and attend traditional birthday parties.
There is something special about giving them an experience they don’t get every weekend.
Maybe it’s the first time they’ve run through foam.
Maybe they finally beat their friends at a carnival game.
Maybe they’re laughing with their friends while watching their Sky View 360 video.
Those are the moments parents remember.
And those are the moments we want to help create.
Plan the Experience, Not Just the Party
If you’re planning a family event, start by asking yourself:
“What do I want my guests to remember?”
Think about the ages of the kids, how much space you have, whether you’re indoors or outdoors, the weather, and how you want the activities to flow.
Most importantly, communicate your vision to the people helping you plan the event.
We’ve learned that things don’t always go perfectly. Equipment can have problems. Power can go out. Something unexpected can happen.
What matters is how you handle it.
Our goal is for families to feel like they don’t have to worry because we’ve taken care of the details.
Creating Memories Is What It’s Really About
Pier Party of 5 started with our own kids.
We wanted to teach them that they don’t have to be afraid to try something new. If you have an idea, you can learn, work hard, and go for it.
That’s still a big part of why we do what we do.
We aren’t just providing foam, carnival games, bubbles, snow, or a 360 booth.
We’re helping families create moments their kids will remember.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the party. It’s about the memory.
