Turning Passion Into Purpose: My Journey as a Creative Entrepreneur

From Craft Table to CEO: How I Built a Business Rooted in Creativity and Connection

When you mix a love for people, a flair for fashion, and a passion for crafts, something magical happens. That magic became the foundation of my journey as an entrepreneur. I’m Gisella Kaendler, founder of Plant & Sip and The Patch Parlor, and every event I host is more than just a creative workshop—it’s a chance to bring joy, connection, and self-expression into someone’s day.

But this journey didn’t begin with a business plan. It started with a passion for plants, a deep love for making people feel special, and a dream.

The Spark Behind the Business

A People Person at Heart

Before I was a business owner, I was the go-to person for get-togethers, creative ideas, and “Can you help me make this?” moments. I’ve always loved people—talking with them, celebrating with them, and helping them express themselves. That love for connection naturally evolved into my business philosophy: make every event feel like a warm gathering of friends.

Creativity is in My DNA

Nature, crafts, and art were always part of my identity. I could spend hours piecing together unique activities, arranging home décor, or mastering a new craft technique. I knew I had a unique eye for creativity, and I wanted to share that joy with others—especially those who didn’t consider themselves “creative.”

How Plant & Sip and The Patch Parlor Were Born

Making Planting Fun and Memorable

Plant & Sip was my first “baby.” I wanted to create a space where people could relax, bond, and leave with something they made themselves—something that made them proud. The idea was simple: combine plants, drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), and creativity to create a unique social experience.

Since then, I’ve hosted hundreds of workshops where guests craft their own succulent terrariums, air plant frames, and sand art masterpieces. The results are always stunning—but more importantly, the process sparks laughter, relaxation, and connection.

Adding Fashion to the Mix

Then came The Patch Parlor, my mobile trucker hat boutique. I took my love of fashion and turned it into an interactive experience where guests design their own hats, visors, and totes. With over 2,000 patches, chains, charms, and accessories to choose from, every creation is one-of-a-kind.

From birthday parties to bachelorette celebrations and corporate events, guests walk away not just with a custom hat, but with the confidence and excitement of creating something stylish and unique.

The Entrepreneurial Drive

Wearing All the Hats—Literally and Figuratively

Being an entrepreneur means I’m the visionary, planner, marketer, and host all in one. I do the outreach, pack the supplies, greet every guest, and make sure everyone leaves smiling.

Yes, it’s a lot of work. But it never feels like a chore because I truly love every part of it.

More Than a Business. It’s a Lifestyle.

I don’t just run a business—I live and breathe it. You’ll find me at vendor markets, collaborating with local businesses, and constantly innovating my offerings to match trends and seasons.

For me, it’s not about chasing dollars. It’s about building relationships, creating joy, and helping people tap into their creativity.

Empowering Others Through Experience

Helping People Feel Confident and Creative

The best part of my job is watching someone light up when they realize: “I actually made this!”

My workshops are designed to be approachable, inclusive, and fun. Whether you’re an experienced DIY-er or someone who hasn’t held a glue stick since grade school, I make sure you leave with something you love—and a smile on your face.

Creating Space for Connection

In a world full of screens and to-do lists, my events are a breath of fresh air. They’re a chance to slow down, laugh, talk, and connect—whether it’s with coworkers, friends, or family.

I’ve seen team members bond in new ways, strangers become friends, and shy guests open up through the power of creative expression.

What Sets Me Apart

Passion Meets Professionalism

I bring not only heart and soul to every event, but also an attention to detail and organization that ensures everything runs smoothly.

Each workshop is customized to fit the group, theme, and vibe. Whether it’s a corporate team-building day, a nonprofit fundraiser, or a birthday bash, my goal is to make everyone feel seen, celebrated, and inspired.

A Personal Touch in Every Experience

No event is too small to be special. I remember names, celebrate milestones, and go the extra mile to make sure each guest feels like they matter—because they do.

At the end of the day, my business isn’t just about what we make; it’s about how we make people feel.

Looking Ahead

Always Creating, Always Connecting

This is just the beginning. I’m constantly dreaming up new ideas, planning collaborations, and expanding what I offer.

My mission remains the same: to create meaningful experiences through crafts, fashion, and community.

If you’re looking for a hands-on experience full of heart, creativity, and fun, let’s make something beautiful together.
