The Teal Pumpkin Project Brings Inclusivity to Trick or Treating in Prosper Texas

All Hallow’s Eve is a ghoulishly good time if you don’t have food allergies. But for the one in 13 kids who have to deal with this medical condition, they tend to miss out on most of the fun. That is unless people participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project!

This initiative, created by the organization Food Allergy Research Education, aims to make sure everyone is included in the excitement of Halloween. The premise is simple—when you see a teal pumpkin on someone’s porch, it means they’re handing out fun non-food treats to trick or treaters.

Best of all, anyone can join in! Just place a teal pumpkin on your porch, register your home on the FARE website, and hand out non-food items like bouncy balls, Play-Doh, slime, stickers, and Halloween-themed toys.

Before you head out the door this Halloween, make sure that you’re prepared for the night! These tips and tricks can help you to have an enjoyable and safe holiday.

What Time is Trick or Treating in Prosper Texas?

Like most cities across the state, trick or treating in Prosper Texas begins around 5:30 PM and ends around 9:00 PM. This can slightly vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, though, depending on your neighbor’s schedules.

Those who live near other young families and retirees may see doors open as early as 4:30 PM to accommodate the families with younger members, whereas communities with mainly young professionals will see later start times, closer to 6:00 PM. Thus, think about where you live or where you’re going before heading out the door!

What to Bring for Tricking or Treating in Prosper

When trick or treating, it’s always smart to pack a flashlight with fresh batteries and bottled water to stay hydrated. Trick or treaters should also consider wearing closed-toe shoes and adorning their costumes with either glow sticks or glow-in-the-dark tape to help them be seen better by drivers.
